Basic Function and Responsibility

Aligning Forces for Quality (AF4Q) is the signature effort of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to improve health care quality in targeted communities across the county. George Washington University serves as the national program office for AF4Q. The national program office’s communications team creates dynamic print and online materials to support the program. The student in this position will have a passion for design and the ability to translate challenging communication needs into original and innovative visual concepts. This is a part-time position, requiring approximately 20 hours per week.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

1. Create or modify existing design templates, website graphics, social media skins, and email marketing templates
2. Apply the approved templates and AF4Q style and brand to products
3. Maintain the communications team’s graphics archives
4. Maintain inventory of master files for all print materials, both online and physically, for the organization
5. Assist with the development of style guides and design templates
6. Stay abreast of multimedia advances that will provide new ways to showcase our program


· Ability to interpret objectives into creative and innovative visual solutions
· Adobe Adobe CS4 (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Flash) Rockstar
· Ability to clearly communicate ideas in writing and verbally
· High level of accuracy and detail focus, ability to proofread and perfect final pieces
· Thorough knowledge of print production techniques and materials as well as web and new media platform design experience
· Understanding of HTML and CSS
· Outstanding portfolio of work
