June 08, 2016

GW’s Office of the Vice President for Research has awarded a two-year, $90,000 Cross Disciplinary Research Fund (CDRF) grant to CS professor Dr. James Hahn and to Dr. John Philbeck of the Department of Psychology.  Dr. Hahn is the principle investigator (PI) and Dr. Philbeck is the co-PI on the project, titled “Automated assessment and analysis of neonatal endotracheal intubation using an augmented reality simulation system.”  This pilot project, which will also involve the Children's National Health Systems, will bridge the gap between training and clinical practice by using quantitative assessment tools and technology-enhanced simulation to improve endotracheal intubation (ETI) performance prior to patient care.
