Activities & Organizations

GW Association for Computing Machinery

The GW student chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), as a chartered local chapter of the National ACM, a network of 80,000+ computing professionals, exists to enrich the academic and extracurricular life of students interested in Computer Science. GW ACM is the primary CS community org at GW, hosting department-wide events like CS Game Nights, Professor Talks, Coffee with Professors, and the CS Freshman Welcome. Through multifaceted campus speakers and other educational and scientific opportunities, ACM seeks to increase the computing knowledge of GW students. Please contact us via this email address:

Systems Hacking Club

The Systems Hacking Club (SHC) is a forum for discussing and learning about how things work.  From architectures, to operating systems, to networks, to programming languages, SHC dives into the details of the infrastructure we use every day. It is focused toward people who are interested, but don't have a background in these areas, all the way up to system hackers and researchers.

GW Cyber

The GW Cyber Security Club focuses on educating the GW student body about the security of the entire systems stack – from computer hardware, to networks, to software. The organization’s goal is to not only expose students to the vulnerabilities and applications used to exploit information technology, but also to teach students how to better guard themselves against these attacks.  Meetings generally consist of workshops, led by experienced, senior members and occasional professional guest speakers, conferences, and events.

Women in Computer Science

Women in Computer Science (WiCS) is a student organization ran through the Department of Computer Science, in the School of Engineering and Applied Science at The George Washington University (GW). WICS is open for all female GW undergraduate and graduate students majoring, minoring or with interest in Computer Science. In order to support women studying Computer Science at GW, WiCS sponsors several mentoring and networking events throughout the semester. Please contact us via this email address:
